Control Yuan: Some Nuclear Emergency Shelters Located in High-Risk Zones

The Control Yuan announced on the 25th that, given the unpredictable nature of earthquakes, extreme weather, and the aging of nuclear power plants, the risk of nuclear accidents is higher than in the past. An audit revealed that some emergency response locations designated by local governments are situated in areas prone to flooding, landslides, or fault lines. Control Yuan members Wang Yu-ling, Tien Chiu-chin, and Shih Chin-fang issued a report urging the Nuclear Safety Commission (NSC) to review its emergency response mechanisms. They emphasized that because nuclear accidents often involve complex, multi-hazard scenarios, evacuation plans must be robust enough to handle unforeseen conditions.
