Central News Agency (Taipei) The financial discipline scandal at the Ma Ying-jeou Foundation continues to escalate. The foundation held a press conference on May 25, presenting evidence and photos alleging that former staff members Hsiao Hsu-tsen and Wang Kuang-tzu violated financial discipline. Hsiao responded by stating that most of the information released had already been investigated by the foundation's own team. He accused King Pu-tsung and others of deliberately spreading false information and announced his decision to sue those involved in the press conference. King Pu-tsung, representing Ma Ying-jeou, claimed that Wang distributed year-end bonuses in cash without proper accounting records and presented a photo of Hsiao holding cash with a business leader, alleging no record of the donation. Foundation CEO Tai Hsia-ling also claimed that Ma was unaware of Hsiao's meeting with Song Tao, head of the Taiwan Affairs Office, after Hsiao became a KMT vice chairman. Hsiao stated in a response that all his trips to mainland China were reported to Ma and widely covered by the media. He accused King of using smear tactics for political vendettas. Hsiao explained that the unrecorded donations were intended for Ma's post-retirement public activities and were used as directed. He urged the foundation to release the full investigation report to reveal the truth.
