The integration of Taiwan's two major professional basketball leagues, P.LEAGUE+ and TPBL, has been a major topic during the off-season for the past few years. Tung Tzu-wei, a candidate for chairman of the Chinese Taipei Basketball Association, stated on the 25th that if elected, he hopes the association will help both sides start with cooperation and gradually advance toward a merger. Tung pointed out that as stars like Jeremy Lin and Lin Chih-chieh approach retirement, fans are missing out on a 'Lin vs. Beast' showdown because they belong to different leagues. PLG Vice Commissioner Chen Chien-chou also supports the approach of starting with cooperation rather than rushing into a merger. Tung hopes to integrate resources to help Taiwan's basketball stand firm on the Asian stage.
