Market expectations of a near-term US-Iran peace agreement, combined with the whirlwind created by NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang's visit to Taiwan, have fueled a rally in both stocks and currency. The Taiwan stock market broke through the 43,000-point mark today to hit a record high, while the New Taiwan dollar strengthened against the US dollar, closing at 31.47, the strongest performance among Asian currencies for the day. Easing tensions in the Middle East have boosted risk appetite, and the AI boom has added fuel to the fire. With AI-related stocks and electronics sectors surging, the Taiwan stock index hit an intraday high of 43,645.78 points and closed at a record 43,644.40 points. Foreign institutional investors were net buyers of NT$49.46 billion. With the upcoming COMPUTEX Taipei, the presence of AI giants has significantly bolstered investor confidence.
