Taiwan's MOFA Condemns China-Pakistan Joint Statement on 'One China' Principle

According to the Central News Agency, Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) strongly condemned the joint statement issued by China and Pakistan today, which reaffirmed the 'One China' principle. MOFA stated that the declaration severely undermines Taiwan's sovereignty and distorts the meaning of UN General Assembly Resolution 2758. Taiwan reiterated that the Republic of China (Taiwan) is a sovereign and independent state, and that it is not subordinate to the People's Republic of China. MOFA called on the international community to face the reality of China's coercion and inducements that undermine the sovereignty of other nations. Taiwan remains committed to working with democratic partners to uphold its sovereignty and national resilience.
