Taichung Police Launch Crackdown on Drug-Impaired Driving, Arrest Suspect

The Taichung City Police Department's Second Precinct has launched a 7-day crackdown on drug and drunk driving from May 25th to 31st. On the night of the 25th, during a checkpoint on Chongde Road in the North District, officers noticed a strong smell of disinfectant alcohol coming from a vehicle. Upon inspection, they discovered methamphetamine. The driver, surnamed Lin, had sprayed large amounts of alcohol in the car and wrapped the drugs in a rag to hide the scent. Lin was arrested and referred to the Taichung District Prosecutors Office for violating the Narcotics Hazard Prevention Act and public endangerment. During the crackdown, police have already apprehended 2 cases of drug-impaired driving, 3 drug cases, 3 drunk driving cases, and 5 wanted individuals.
