Hsiao Hsu-tsung Attends Zhejiang-Taiwan Week, Advocates for 'Peace and Prosperity for Taiwan'

KMT Vice Chairman Hsiao Hsu-tsung attended the opening ceremony of the '2026 Zhejiang-Taiwan Cooperation Week' in Hangzhou on May 26. Hsiao stated that the KMT's cross-strait policy aims to promote peaceful development and prosperity for Taiwan, summarized as "Peace and Prosperity for Taiwan." He emphasized two key requirements: strengthening national identity and enhancing political trust through adherence to the 1992 Consensus and opposition to Taiwan independence. Hsiao described the 1992 Consensus as a crystallization of wisdom that allows both sides to set aside differences and engage in negotiations. The Zhejiang-Taiwan Week, held since 2013, has become a significant platform for cross-strait economic and trade cooperation.
