The Taiwan stock market surged past 44,000 points this morning, hitting a new record of 44,097.63 points, before profit-taking triggered a pullback. The index closed at 43,525.37 points, down 119.03 points (0.27%), with a turnover of 1.473 trillion TWD. TSMC closed at 2,270 TWD, down 40 TWD. Delta Electronics rose 60 TWD to 2,350 TWD, and MediaTek rose 20 TWD to 4,265 TWD, both hitting record highs during the session and at the close. Hon Hai fell 2 TWD to 259 TWD.
