With NVIDIA's Taiwan headquarters set to be located in the Beitou-Shilin Technology Park (Beishike), Taipower announced today that it will coordinate with the Taipei City Government to build the new 'Wenlin Substation' to meet the rapidly growing power demand of the park and the AI industry. A temporary power supply plan will be launched simultaneously, with power expected to be connected within approximately 20 months after the temporary substation is completed. The formal substation is planned to have a capacity of approximately 180MW, with construction taking about 5 years for an above-ground design or 9 years for an underground design, sufficient to support the park's future needs. In response to NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang's remarks on Taiwan's power needs, Taipower spokesperson Tseng Mei-lien stated that Beishike is a key technology corridor, and Taipower is working closely with the city government to secure land for the substation. Regarding grid stability, Taipower remains confident in this year's peak power supply, projecting a daytime reserve margin of 10% and a nighttime margin of over 7%.
