The Ministry of National Defense announced today that 45 schools and 1,123 students participated in this year's National High School Honor Guard Finals, with nine schools advancing to the finals. The event will be held on the 30th at the National Theater and Concert Hall Plaza in Taipei. The site will feature interactive national defense booths and showcase the 'Jingfeng Type I' drone, developed by the National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology (NCSIST), dubbed the 'Taiwanese Switchblade.' Major General Wang Yi-hung of the Political Warfare Bureau noted that since its inception in 2017, the competition has become a major annual event. The finals will include joint performances by the military honor guards and the demonstration band, as well as a performance by the Fu Jen Catholic University cheerleading team. The event will be live-streamed. There will be 21 interactive booths, including displays of military surveillance drones and the 'Jingfeng Type I.' Wang emphasized that promoting national defense aims to build societal resilience, and the military is collaborating with civilian groups to reach beyond traditional circles. The 'Jingfeng Type I' is designed for target identification and dive attacks, capable of coordinated operations to enhance tactical surprise and defense advantages.
