Ruentex Group Chairman Yin Yen-liang Passes Away at 76

Yin Yen-liang, chairman of the Ruentex Group and founder of the Tang Prize, passed away early this morning at the Taipei Veterans General Hospital at the age of 76. The news has shocked various sectors. Born in Taipei in 1950, Yin was the son of Ruentex founder Yin Shu-tien. In his youth, he was known for his rebellious nature but was guided back to his studies by his mentor, Wang Jin-pyng. Yin successfully transformed the Ruentex Group from a textile company into a multi-billion dollar conglomerate spanning construction, finance, retail, and biotechnology. He was known for his leadership of Nan Shan Life Insurance and his contributions to construction technology, such as precast methods. He was also one of the earliest investors in Taiwan's biotech industry. Yin was known for his unique personal style and commitment to integrity, famously reporting corruption in the Taoyuan housing project. In 2012, he founded the Tang Prize to promote research in sustainable development, biopharmaceuticals, Sinology, and the rule of law. He is survived by his wife, Wang Chi-fan, and two children. The succession plan is already in place, with his son, Yin Chung-yao, serving as chairman of Nan Shan Life Insurance. The Ruentex Group stated that its companies are currently managed by professional teams.
