Wu Tzu-chia, chairman of the Formosa Electronic Newspaper, was sentenced to eight months in prison, commutable to a fine, for falsely accusing former Premier Su Tseng-chang and former Health Minister Chen Shih-chung of embezzling $100 million through BNT vaccine procurement. Wu appeared at the Taipei District Prosecutors Office on the 26th to pay the fine of approximately NT$240,000. According to the verdict, Wu claimed on YouTube and television programs that the officials had embezzled nearly NT$3 billion. Su and Chen sued for aggravated defamation. The court upheld the conviction. In civil proceedings, Wu was ordered to pay NT$900,000 to Su, while the case regarding Chen's claim for NT$10 million is still pending in a retrial.
