Just a day after two anglers drowned in the Nanshi River in Wulai, New Taipei City, police and fire departments received reports on the evening of the 26th that a person had drowned while catching shrimp in Pinglin District. The victim was pronounced dead after being rushed to the hospital. According to the Xindian Police Precinct, the accident occurred around 7:00 PM on the 26th in Pinglin District. A man surnamed Jian and his 37-year-old brother-in-law, Lin, had driven to Bihu No. 2 in Pinglin around 6:00 PM to catch shrimp. When Jian noticed Lin drowning, he immediately called 119 and attempted to pull him to shore. Emergency personnel arrived and performed CPR before transporting Lin to Wanfang Hospital in Taipei, but he could not be saved. The case will be reported to the prosecutor for further investigation to clarify the cause of the accident.
