Musician Lu Yi-chih, who excels in performance, arrangement, and composition, concluded his performance and seminar tour in Vancouver, Canada, yesterday. During this trip, he collaborated with local musicians and choirs to perform several Taiwanese folk songs, allowing Vancouver music fans to experience the simple, humanistic beauty of Taiwan. Lu, a winner of the Golden Melody Award for Traditional Arts, was invited along with his Japanese wife, Maki Yoshizawa, to participate in the 'I Am Waiting for You Here' Spring Song Concert. Lu performed five piano solos, including 'Longing for the Spring Breeze' and 'Zongzi,' and collaborated with Taiwanese-Canadian violinist Ken Lin and Korean-Canadian cellist Songyong Lim. The Vancouver Egret and Buffalo Choir performed Lu's works, such as 'Blooming' and 'Cabbage,' marking their North American debut. After graduating from the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and obtaining the highest performance diploma from the Berlin University of the Arts, Lu won the 'Best Performance Award' at the Golden Melody Awards in 2012 and the 'Best Arrangement Award' in 2023. He has a deep affection for Taiwanese folk songs and is skilled at transforming familiar melodies into elegant, magnificent instrumental works. Lu is scheduled to perform at the National Taichung Theater on the 30th with two French artists.
