DPP lawmaker Chen Ying pointed out today that Taitung County faces a shortage of residential long-term care facilities and suggested adopting the Japanese 'Co-living Home' model. This model involves the government renting residential properties to provide family-style care for 5-6 elderly individuals within their own communities. Premier Cho Jung-tai responded that if suitable locations are found in Taitung, the government will fully cooperate to make it a pilot area. Minister of Health and Welfare Shih Chung-liang confirmed that a pilot program will be launched this year, prioritizing areas with insufficient facilities. Additionally, Chen requested support for renovating aging health centers in Taitung. Minister Shih promised to prioritize the renovation of five health centers, including those in Taimali and Yanping.
