Nanaco Sato, a diva known for her unique whisper voice. Two rare collaboration tracks, one each with Ryuichi Sakamoto and Motoharu Sano, will be released as the 7-inch single "Fashion Energy / Tasogare no Koibitotachi" on November 3, 2026. Both are valuable recordings that will be commercially released for the first time, now available as a double A-side single. One track is the techno-pop song "Fashion Energy," written by Ryuichi Sakamoto for a commercial by a certain apparel manufacturer, featuring Nanaco Sato on vocals. This song was recorded in February 1986, and Ryuichi Sakamoto himself performed on the track. The other track is "Tasogare no Koibitotachi" (Twilight Lovers), recorded during the sessions for Sato's masterpiece "Kissing Fish" released in 1979, but previously unreleased. This is a mellow and romantic slow ballad with music composed by Motoharu Sano. Also noteworthy is the beautiful and mysterious jacket artwork by Isamu Gakiya.

[Profile: Nanaco Sato]
Debuted in 1977 with the collaborative album "Funny Walkin'" with Motoharu Sano. After releasing four solo albums and being part of the band "SPY" produced by Kazuhiko Kato, she transitioned to photography and lived in Paris for five years. Upon returning to Japan, she released an album in Japan, the UK, and the US in 1996, with the title track "Love is a drug" being selected as the first Japanese artist's "single of the week" by the UK's NME magazine. "Twiggy Twiggy," which she provided for Pizzicato Five, became a global hit. As a photographer, she shot CD jackets for artists such as Haruomi Hosono and Cocco, and as a narrator, she is known for the voice of "Hai" in the Hebel Haus commercials. She has released works on labels both domestically and internationally, and her coquettish whisper voice has been described as the "originator of Shibuya-kei." In recent years, she continues to be active on the world stage as a multifaceted artist, producing records and performing energetic live shows. This April, her collaboration with John Renbourn of Pentangle, "A Rolling Stone From Heaven," and a remix by Simon Ratcliffe of Basement Jaxx were released by Gearbox Records in the UK.
