Japan Guide Star (operated by Contents Like LLC), which develops guided tours for inbound tourists, has launched a Kintsugi workshop at "Chopsticks Studio Shinjuku," a complex facility for experiencing Japanese culture located in Shinjuku, Tokyo. The facility is also strengthening its group reception system for travel agencies and MICE.
The facility is conveniently located a 4-minute walk from Shinjuku Station and offers deep experiences in traditional Japanese crafts such as "chopstick making" and "calligraphy."
Sales for the Kintsugi experience will begin on June 15, 2026 (Mon.), with plans to roll out a wider range of content in the future.
In this workshop, participants can experience "Kintsugi," a unique Japanese aesthetic that repairs broken or chipped pottery based on traditional techniques.
Background and Objectives
Recent educational and corporate trips increasingly demand experiences that go beyond simple sightseeing to deepen understanding of "inquiry-based learning" and "SDGs." Through Kintsugi, a symbol of Japan's "mottainai" (waste not) culture, the company has begun selling workshops to convey the spirit of traditional Japanese beauty and sustainable manufacturing to guests both domestically and internationally.
Features of the Kintsugi Workshop
1. Prime Location in Shinjuku. Experience content that can be completed in 1.5 hours.
Experience traditional Japanese culture in the heart of Shinjuku. As the content can be completed in 1.5 hours, it can effectively utilize small pockets of time, such as before or after exploring the surrounding area, having lunch, or moving to another spot.
2. Flexible Schedule with Multiple Sessions Daily. Easy to Incorporate into Group Tour Itineraries
With multiple slots available from 11:00 to 19:00, it fits well into tight group tour schedules. It is also a very user-friendly content option for rainy day alternatives or sudden schedule changes.
3. Satisfaction of Taking Home a "Personalized Traditional Craft"
Uses quick-drying materials. It dries on the spot, allowing participants to safely pack and take it home the same day after the experience.
4. Reception for Up to 60 People at Once. Experience Without Splitting Groups
Large groups, such as those on inbound educational trips or corporate incentive tours, can all participate in an authentic workshop simultaneously without being divided.
5. Experience the "Mottainai" Spirit and Japanese Culture
More than just a craft activity, participants can learn about the uniquely Japanese "mottainai" spirit of cherishing and using beloved dishes for a long time. It helps deepen understanding of SDG Goal 12: "Responsible Consumption and Production."
