Contrea Inc. (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Kazuhiro Kawabata; hereinafter referred to as Contrea), a provider of the patient co-creation platform "MediOS" (hereinafter referred to as MediOS), has received the Patient Support Division Award at the "Nursing DX Award 2026" (Organized by: Japan Association of Male Nurses, et al.). This award was presented within the "Modern Hospital Show Nurse Festival," held for three days from July 8, 2026, at Tokyo Big Sight, and recognized MediOS for its contribution to nursing practice through communication support for patients.

About the Nursing DX Award 2026

The "Nursing DX Award" is an award established by the Japan Association of Male Nurses to recognize and share excellent examples and services of digital transformation (DX) promoted by nurses, thereby accelerating the promotion of DX in nursing practice.

While current trends in medical DX and hospital DX tend to focus on management and efficiency, this award highlights "frontline-first" initiatives that truly contribute to "nurses' work style reform, operational efficiency, and improvement of patient care quality." This year, innovative digital technologies and services were comprehensively evaluated in five fields: nursing records, nursing education, nursing management, home nursing care, and patient support.

Reason for Award and About MediOS

With the mission "Peace of mind for everyone involved in healthcare," Contrea provides the patient co-creation platform "MediOS." MediOS is a platform that resolves the disconnect in information and communication between patients and healthcare professionals, creating an environment where patients can understand and participate in their treatment with confidence. It integrates video explanations, questionnaires, electronic consent forms, and messaging in a one-stop solution, allowing healthcare professionals more time to focus on patient interaction.

The healthcare industry is projected to face a shortage of 1.87 million personnel by 2030, making it urgent to balance operational efficiency with improved patient care quality in nursing practice. In response to this challenge, Contrea advocates for the concept of "patient task sharing," which not only involves AI and technological substitution but also "draws out the patient's own capabilities and encourages proactive participation." By centrally supporting communication-related tasks with patients, such as explanation duties, consent management, anamnesis taking, and responding to inquiries from patients and their families, it creates time for nurses to concentrate on individual support and care.

This award recognized Contrea's efforts in creating an environment where patients can undergo treatment with peace of mind through communication support as being worthy of the Patient Support Division Award.

With this award, Contrea will continue to promote the creation of an environment where patients can proactively participate in their medical care. We will also strive to further enhance functions and expand the adoption of MediOS as a foundation for improving the quality of medical care and strengthening hospital management by connecting with patients.

Judges' Comments

Mr. Kousuke Tsubota, Representative Director, Japan Association of Male Nurses

Following the awards from the Hospital DX Award and Mizuho Innovation Award, I sincerely congratulate you on achieving a "triple crown" with this award. This achievement is proof that its value is widely recognized not only within nursing but also from diverse perspectives of healthcare, management, and society. As a top runner guiding the future of nursing records, we fully support your continued leadership in driving DX in medical practice.

Mr. Shun Miyata, Representative Director, S.U.N. Inc.

The design, which standardizes patient explanations with videos and simultaneously reduces the explanation burden on nurses and the anxiety of patients, is excellent. We expect it to be a necessary foundation for nursing practice, supporting safe medical care and informed decision-making.
