ANESSA, Asia's No. 1 selling*1 suncare brand, is implementing the "ANESSA Sunshine Project"*2 to support the healthy growth of children's minds and bodies. Within the three pillars of "Support," "Education," and "Experience," the "Support" pillar has continued to provide assistance to patients with "Xeroderma Pigmentosum (XP)," a rare disease causing photosensitivity that prevents them from being exposed to sunlight.

This year, in the third year of the project, ANESSA went beyond its previous sunscreen donation activities. The "National Liaison Association for Xeroderma Pigmentosum (XP)" (composed of XP patients and their families) participated for the first time in their quadrennial "National Convention," held from June 20 (Sat) to June 21 (Sun), 2026, at "Shiiawase-no-Mura" in Kobe City. On the day, ANESSA planned and implemented content such as a "Sunscreen Application Workshop" utilizing ANESSA's expertise, a "Sunscreen Holder Craft Experience" to make daily UV care enjoyable, and a hearing session for future product development. These activities aimed to support XP patients and their families in having a safe and comfortable experience.

*2 Implemented in the following countries and regions: China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Macau, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam.

《Activity Details》

Xeroderma Pigmentosum (XP) is a rare disease where individuals cannot repair genetic damage caused by ultraviolet rays. Even slight exposure to UV rays can have severe effects on the skin. Furthermore, as patients grow, various neurological symptoms such as difficulty walking and hearing loss progress.

XP patients require thorough protective measures, such as wearing protective clothing during the day, which significantly restricts outdoor activities. However, there is a strong desire from families and patients to "gain as many experiences as possible."

This time, ANESSA, aiming to realize its brand purpose of "Free to Shine: A world where everyone can continue to shine under the sun," implemented content that provided effective skin protection methods for XP patients living lives that require them to avoid UV rays, and made UV protection an enjoyable experience.

1 Sunscreen Application Workshop

This session explained the basics of UV rays and introduced sunscreens that protect the skin, categorized by type. ANESSA shared its unique knowledge on how to maximize sunscreen effectiveness, including application methods to create an even protective film, the appropriate amount and frequency of application, and areas often missed.

Simultaneously, using a special "UV camera," participants and their families could monitor their skin condition after applying sunscreen, supporting reliable sun protection.

2 Hearing Session for New Product Development

Aiming to develop "suncare products that are easy for everyone to use," a hearing session was held where participants could experience new package ideas and samples. Patients and their families cooperated, providing valuable feedback on usability, package convenience, and areas for improvement, which will be highly beneficial for future product development.

3 "Original Holder and Strap" Creation to Brighten Daily Sunscreen Use

A workshop was held to create original holders for ANESSA Perfect UV Skincare Milk NA, incorporating enjoyment into essential daily UV protection. Activities included customizing with beads that change color in UV light and personalizing with participants' names.

<Feedback from Participants>

● "It has become easier to convey specific tips on sunscreen application to school staff and facility personnel who cooperate with our children's UV protection."

● "It was wonderful to see the children enjoying themselves through the workshop."

About the ANESSA Sunshine Project

The project consists of three activities: "Children's Experience Events," "UV Education Activities," and "Support for Xeroderma Pigmentosum (XP) Patients." The goal is to support approximately 300,000 children in Asia by 2030*3.

Children's Experience Events:

By providing opportunities for children to engage their minds and bodies in experiences under the sun, we aim to promote active and continuous outdoor play habits.

UV Education Activities:

We will provide knowledge on UV protection to educators, children, and their guardians, enabling children to safely and healthily enjoy the outdoors while properly benefiting from sunlight, which is essential for growth.

Support for Xeroderma Pigmentosum (XP) Patients:

We will continue to donate sunscreen products and financial aid to individuals with Xeroderma Pigmentosum, a rare disease causing photosensitivity that prevents exposure to sunlight.
