Coincheck, Inc., operator of the crypto asset trading service "Coincheck," which has the highest number of app downloads and active users in Japan, has decided to launch joint research on "CLI for AI agents" with Komlock lab, a group of engineers specializing in blockchain and AI agents. The movement of AI agents autonomously calling services and exchanging value on behalf of users is rapidly advancing, especially overseas. The CLI product for AI agents, "Kova (β)," developed by Komlock lab, envisions a world where AI agents execute transactions simply by the user conveying their intent in natural language. As these use cases become reality, the prerequisites for payments will change significantly. AI agents may call external APIs by the second and issue continuous small-amount requests. Traditional payment methods are designed on the premise that humans make decisions and are not optimized for agent-led workloads. In this joint research, the companies aim to organize a realistic framework for consideration in Japan from the perspective of a crypto asset exchange, after technically analyzing the design philosophy and prior implementations of overseas projects. Future initiatives will include organizing trading models using AI agents, verifying consistency with existing regulations, and examining risk management systems.
