On Tuesday, June 2, Pia Corporation published the free magazine "Yokohama Mirai Pia." A press event commemorating the publication was held at the Yokohama City Hall Atrium.

With "GREEN×EXPO 2027" approaching in 2027, Yokohama is currently in a period of transformation. Large-scale redevelopment is progressing in the Yokohama central waterfront area, which is evolving into a "multi-layered city" where music, sports, culture, and tourism overlap.

The city is shifting from the previous model of "visiting a single facility in Yokohama" to "experiencing the entire city of Yokohama." Companies, the government, and citizens are collaborating to create new urban value.

This magazine features interviews with key figures working to connect and revitalize the Yokohama central waterfront area, a special feature on the highly anticipated "GREEN×EXPO 2027," the music-centered "MUSIC CITY YOKOHAMA" concept, regional collaborations with IP content such as anime and artists, and the current state of Yokohama's diverse culture. It also highlights the city's new appeal as one of "Japan's New Three Major Night View Cities."

Furthermore, it focuses on future redevelopment and evolution in the Yokohama Station, Minato Mirai, Kannai Station, and Minami-Yokohama areas. A contributed article by Pia Research Institute, "The Social Value Entertainment Brings to Cities," analyzes how entertainment as soft power enhances a city's brand value. The magazine serves as a message book conveying the vision for Yokohama to become a "sustainably chosen city."

The cover features an illustration of Yokohama by Masamichi Oikawa.

The event was attended by Yokohama Mayor Takeharu Yamanaka and Seiichi Someya, the General Editor-in-Chief of "Yokohama Mirai Pia" at Pia Corporation. The MC was radio personality Haruhisa Kurihara, known from FM Yokohama's "PRIME TIME."

Editor-in-Chief Someya stated that since opening the large-scale arena "Pia Arena MM" in 2020, he has collaborated with many companies in Yokohama to realize various events with the aim of "energizing Yokohama with music." He said, "If you have the passion, you can make it happen. This free magazine is a volume filled with the passion of key people involved in Yokohama, including the mayor." Regarding "GREEN×EXPO 2027" scheduled for next year, he emphasized, "We want to work together with everyone on activities that will allow visitors to Yokohama to also enjoy 'GREEN×EXPO 2027'."

Yokohama Mayor Takeharu Yamanaka expressed his gratitude, saying, "Today, June 2, is Yokohama's Port Opening Anniversary. On the day Yokohama opened its port to the world, the enthusiasm of all who love Yokohama has materialized into this volume." He mentioned "GREEN×EXPO 2027," which he positions as "a new page in Yokohama's history," along with many other attractions of Yokohama, and stated, "This volume thoroughly introduces the present and future charms of Yokohama."

At the event, postcards featuring the magazine's cover, designed by illustrator Masamichi Oikawa, known for his work on the cover of 'Pia', were given to attendees on a first-come, first-served basis.

The back of "Yokohama Mirai Pia" includes special benefits for readers, allowing them to enjoy Yokohama and Minato Mirai more affordably. These include services such as "drink service," "Yokohama souvenir gifts," and "special discounts," which can be received simply by showing the magazine at participating facilities.
