CRAZY BUMP Inc., a company that plans and operates exhibitions themed around subcultures such as manga, anime, and tokusatsu, has announced details for the upcoming 'Junji Ito POP UP STORE “Zankyō” in Gallery of the Dead,' running from Tuesday, July 2, 2026, to Monday, August 17, 2026, at both the Gallery of the Dead Nakano Store and the Gallery of the Dead ONLINE STORE.

This summer, something strange is once again happening at Nakano Broadway... Every year, the Gallery of the Dead’s summer event has sparked rumors of unexplained phenomena—“the room temperature dropped by 3 degrees” or “it wasn’t air conditioning, it was a chilling presence.” And in 2026, this summer tradition returns!

This year’s event is titled 'Junji Ito POP UP STORE “Zankyō”,' bringing an 'inescapable scream' to the heart of Nakano during the hottest season.

Junji Ito, a genius whose name echoes throughout the global horror manga scene, continues to push boundaries with collaborations with renowned international and domestic brands and artists. Among overseas fans visiting Nakano Broadway, 'Junji Ito' has become a phenomenon in itself. Ahead of this global frenzy, the 'Gallery of the Dead' has annually summoned Ito’s one-of-a-kind universe into physical space. And once again this year, within the deepest corner of Nakano Broadway, a scream—quiet yet piercing—will echo through the halls.

This year’s theme is 'Zankyō' (Residual Scream). That lingering unease and discomfort that surfaces in silence after finishing an Ito story. Even after closing the book, a scream continues to echo deep within your soul.

Centered on this 'unfading aftertaste of terror,' the event will immerse visitors in the world of Junji Ito. As in previous years, Ito has created an exclusive, never-before-seen illustration specifically for the Gallery of the Dead, serving as the key visual. A wide range of limited-edition goods featuring this beautifully unsettling artwork will also be available.

It is said—though unconfirmed—that Junji Ito fans drawn in by this 'Zankyō' lose their sanity the moment they step inside, only to awaken with shopping bags full of merchandise. Whether true or not, we recommend you consult your wallet before visiting to find out for yourself.
