Problems when using food wrap
Food wrap is used daily in homes and restaurants across Japan. However, many people have experienced the problem of:
"The wrap rolling back the moment it's cut."
"Wrap rolls back the moment it's cut" - a common stress
Food wrap rolled back, making it impossible to find the end
Often... You can't find the cut end, The wrap gets crumpled, And cooking stops, causing frustration!
In homes and restaurants alike, This small stress has remained unsolved for many years.
Creax Co., Ltd.'s dream is to
Eliminate the "wrap roll-back stress" from Japan.
Therefore,
We have "developed an item (Wrapstar) that prevents food wrap from rolling back," so we will explain:
・Development Story
・Third-Party Evaluation
・Our desire to spread "Wrap Plate" nationwide
・Creax's "Dream"
Please read to the end for a sequential explanation.
Development Story
・The Representative's Eventful Life
Since childhood, I loved crafting and making things, but at my teacher's recommendation, I first worked at a bank after graduation.
However, I really wanted to create things, so after five years, I aimed to start my own business and changed jobs to a manufacturing company.
Looking back, my life has been full of ups and downs. Just when I thought I had lost my job due to a company closure...
I was repeatedly offered opportunities like "Why don't you come to our company?", learning the basics of entrepreneurship. However, I was not blessed with luck and opportunities, and ended up working as a salaried employee until retirement.
・The trigger for development came from a TV personality's remark
About four years ago, around March 2022, a TV personality on a program said, "It's stressful when wrap rolls back when you cut it!" This single remark was the trigger.
Some commercially available wraps have anti-roll-back measures, but they are not perfectly roll-back free.
I was surprised to find many online videos on "how to find the stuck film when it rolls back."
While working at the company, a solution suddenly came to me! Based on the idea of "using static electricity" to prevent food wrap from rolling back, utilizing 40 years of knowledge and experience cultivated in manufacturing, I went through trial and error and obtained patents, designs, and trademarks.
"WRAPSTAR" was born.
Simultaneously with the patent application, I applied for a subsidy. It was successfully adopted, and the dream of starting a business was realized through the following subsidy project plan:
・Application as a sole proprietor
・Purchase of a laser processing machine
・Application for "Chubu Pack 2024" exhibition
・Production of samples for the exhibition and preparation of booth decoration
・Creation of HP and EC site, etc.
Continuous trial and error with a laser processing machine
Days of development with intellectual property rights (patents, etc.) in mind
・Market Research (Test Marketing)
In April 2024, while working as a contract employee after retirement, I utilized the subsidy to exhibit as the only sole proprietor among large companies at the "Chubu Pack 2024" exhibition hosted by the Japan Food Packaging Association at Port Messe Nagoya.
"Chubu Pack 2024" - The representative is second from the left
As it was an unprecedented product, it received a great response, overshadowing the surrounding booths, and new challenges were also discovered. The following month, I retired from the company and proceeded with business development.
In September of the same year, I was featured as a sole proprietor in the local Chunichi Shimbun (Owari edition) as a company introduction.
・Design review due to cost became a challenge...
At the "Chubu Pack 2024" exhibition, there was a request for a new development of a 45cm type commercial holder from the existing 30cm type.
After six months of prototyping, the first mass-production model was completed in January 2025 and pitched to wholesalers, but the feedback was, "The product is good, but the price..."
Negotiations with the manufacturing contractor for price reduction were met with "We're already in the red! We can't go any lower...", leading to a design review to enable in-house integrated design and production for all Wrapstar products.
・"Wrap Plate" born from problem-solving
Since it is a technical product utilizing static electricity, the materials that can be used are limited. The separate holder type products, with a structure that wraps around commercially available wrap and a hangable structure, are divided into household and commercial use, and there are limits to cost reduction in manufacturing.
Amidst this, I received an opinion from a supporter: "Why not remove the hanging function and create a simpler type?" I was confident in my craftsmanship and had poured my heart into the product. At first, I didn't listen, but after prototyping, I pitched it to renowned companies at the "Sales Market" hosted by the Nagoya Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and two companies evaluated it as "This is good!", leading to further refinement.
Third-Party Evaluation
・Received "Excellence Award" from the Japan Institute of Invention and Innovation
Japan Institute of Invention and Innovation "Excellence Award"
The "Wrap Plate," born from challenges, was packaged in October 2025 as a mass-produced product and submitted to the "29th Invention Exhibition of Everyday Hints" hosted by the Japan Institute of Invention and Innovation.
Many people also purchased it at the flea market held simultaneously at the exhibition.
In the judging results in December of the same year, it received the "Excellence Award" out of 980 entries nationwide, demonstrating its practicality and originality.
・Exhibited a booth at Messe Nagoya 2025
In November 2025, we exhibited at the "Messe Nagoya 2025 Inter-Industry Exchange Exhibition" held at Port Messe Nagoya, in a joint booth with the local Ichinomiya Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
At the exhibition, as part of test marketing, we demonstrated and allowed visitors to experience the "Wrap Plate" and "Commercial Holder," and many visitors purchased the Wrap Plate on the spot, reaffirming the high level of interest.
Furthermore, our development capabilities and ingenuity were highly evaluated, and after the exhibition, we received requests for advisory services and consultations regarding future product development.
