Design is widely utilized not just for creating beautiful appearances, but as a process and method for systematically constructing things to achieve objectives and goals. It also plays an important role in various areas, including product appearance and functionality, advertisements, and the usability of websites and apps. Possessing basic design knowledge is important not only for graphic and web designers but also for anyone involved in creative work, such as video creators, directors, and marketers.

In this seminar series, Mr. Keiichi Masuda, who is active as an instructor at vocational schools in addition to operating qualifications and producing educational materials for graphic design, web design, and video production, will be the speaker. Focusing on "How to Utilize Basic Design Knowledge," the seminars will deepen understanding of design with different themes each time. Vol. 15 and Vol. 16 will explain "Decorative Styles and Patterns of the World."

We encourage those who are interested to watch.

<Seminar Content> Vol. 15: July 13 (Mon) "Decorative Styles of the World Creators Should Know" Decorative styles nurtured around the world strongly reflect the culture, religion, thought, and aesthetic consciousness of their respective regions. Decoration is not merely an "ornament" but a visual expression with meaning and symbolism, passed down through generations. In this session, we will divide the content into two streams: "Decorative Styles of the World up to the Celtic Style" and "Decorative Styles of the World from the Byzantine Style to the Russian Style," and consider how to apply them to modern design while understanding the characteristics and backgrounds of these decorations.

Vol. 16: July 17 (Fri) "Patterns of the World Creators Should Know" Patterns and designs born around the world condense the culture, view of nature, religious views, and values of their regions. With their repeating rhythms, symbolic motifs, and compositional beauty, patterns are not only "decorations" but also visual languages with meaning. This session focuses on the patterns of the world themselves, deciphering the concepts and methods of expression of "patterns" that emerge from them, and exploring how they can be applied to modern design.

<Seminar Progression> 1. Instructor's theme explanation 2. Posting ideas such as "This is how it should be!" via chat 3. Instructor summarizes and visualizes posted opinions on a panel 4. Participants post images (URLs, etc.) related to the theme in the chat 5. Instructor presents prepared case images and provides explanations 6. Summary and Q&A *This seminar proceeded with the collection of many ideas from participants.
