About Claritin®EX
Claritin®EX is a second-generation antihistamine containing the active ingredient loratadine. It includes components known for their low drowsiness potential and helps relieve symptoms of allergic rhinitis—including sneezing, runny nose, and nasal congestion—commonly caused by hay fever. With once-daily dosing of one tablet, its effects last throughout the day, reducing the likelihood of missed doses. Backed by its global track record as a widely used non-sedating allergy treatment, Claritin®EX has long supported improved quality of life (QOL) for consumers in Japan.
Background and Purpose of the Sales Partnership
Bayer possesses global expertise in the healthcare sector and extensive experience in enhancing the value of Claritin®EX. Through this partnership, Bayer will collaborate with DAIICHI SANKYO Healthcare’s expertise in the OTC pharmaceutical market and its nationwide distribution network to ensure Claritin®EX reaches patients more effectively, contributing to the further development of self-care in Japan’s allergy treatment landscape.
DAIICHI SANKYO Healthcare has previously focused on key OTC pharmaceutical categories, offering allergy-specific nasal sprays and eye drops. By adding the oral medication Claritin®EX to its product lineup, the company aims to strengthen its presence in the allergy care segment. Nasal allergies, characterized by uncomfortable symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, and congestion, are a common health concern affecting many individuals—especially during pollen season. In recent years, the social impact of allergies has also been increasingly recognized. Leveraging its experience in pharmaceutical sales and consumer information dissemination, DAIICHI SANKYO Healthcare will continue to support an environment where individuals can make informed, appropriate choices and use medications responsibly as part of self-care and self-medication initiatives.
Through this partnership, both companies aim to deliver Claritin®EX to a broader audience suffering from nasal allergy symptoms and contribute to advancing self-care and self-medication in the field of allergy management, particularly for pollen-related conditions.
