This live session will address common parenting challenges with children who have developmental disabilities or fall into the gray zone, such as "They don't understand no matter how many times I say it," "What should I say in this situation?" and "I don't want to scold them, but I end up raising my voice." Author Kayoko Yoshino will provide real-time "communication transformations." Pre-submitted questions for the live session are currently being accepted. https://www.agentmail.jp/form/ht/72817/1/

On the day of the event, based on pre-submitted questions and live comments, we will introduce specific communication strategies that can be used in everyday parenting situations. Why is this book needed now? How does changing the adult's approach and communication, before trying to change the child, alter the atmosphere between parent and child? We aim to provide parents struggling with parenting children with developmental disabilities or gray zones with a takeaway phrase they can try tomorrow.

Background of the Event

Parenting children with developmental disabilities or gray zones often presents situations where parents struggle with daily responses. Whether it's getting ready in the morning, homework, games, reluctance to go to school, tantrums, or sibling fights, there are many moments at home where parents feel "they don't understand no matter how many times I say it." On the other hand, words that resonate with a child vary depending on the child's brain development and characteristics. This YouTube live session will use specific, common scenarios to explain, in an easy-to-understand manner, the author's perspective on communication that doesn't damage the parent-child relationship.

Live Session Content

In the first half of the live session, to celebrate the release of the new book, "Developmental Disabilities and Gray Zone Parenting: If You Think It's Tough, Try Saying This!", the editor and author will share the value embedded in the book and how to use it at home from their respective viewpoints.

The second half will transform parenting concerns submitted in advance into "Try Saying This!" phrases for everyday problems. Furthermore, we will introduce the concept of not just "saying the words as they are written in the book," but also "adapting them to our family's situation."

Pre-Submitted Questions Accepted

In your daily parenting life,

"What should I say in this kind of situation?" "How should I respond in this scenario?" "I want to change the words I use when I tend to get angry."
