April 2026 Temp Job Report: Average Hourly Wage in Three Major Metropolitan Areas Rises to 1,654 Yen

dip Corporation has released its temp wage data for the three major metropolitan areas for April 2026. This survey is based on job advertisement data for dispatch and temp-to-perm positions posted on the job site 'Hatarako.net'.

The average hourly wage for temporary staff in April was 1,654 yen (an increase of 22 yen year-on-year and 19 yen month-on-month). Meanwhile, the number of job openings for dispatch and temp-to-perm positions was approximately 167,000, representing a 18.9% decrease year-on-year and a 16.7% decrease month-on-month.

By area, the Kanto area averaged 1,737 yen, the Tokai area averaged 1,503 yen, and the Kansai area averaged 1,553 yen, with all regions recording year-on-year increases.

By job category, 'IT/Engineer' positions had the highest average wage at 2,345 yen, followed by 'WEB/Creator' positions at 1,864 yen.
