Daiichi Jitsugyo Co., Ltd. (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Yuji Funatogawa, hereinafter "the Company") announces the completion of construction work for a demonstration project utilizing hydrogen fuel for aluminum melting at DENSO HARYANA PVT. LTD. (Haryana, India; hereinafter "DENSO HARYANA").
This project was adopted under the FY2023 Supplementary Global South Future-Oriented Co-Creation Project Subsidy (Survey on Promotion of Overseas Infrastructure Expansion by Japanese Enterprises) administered by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI). DENSO Corporation (Kariya, Aichi Prefecture; hereinafter "DENSO"), as the subsidized entity, is conducting technological verification for carbon-neutral aluminum melting and vacuum low-pressure die casting. The demonstration focuses on high-precision, large-scale aluminum die-cast components for power sources and motors critical to electric vehicle performance (official name: Carbon-Neutral Component Processing Demonstration Project).
Although the Company is not the recipient of the subsidy, it carried out retrofitting of DENSO’s aluminum melting and holding furnace—manufactured by Miyamoto Kogyosho Co., Ltd.—to enable hydrogen fuel compatibility, as well as the relocation of the furnace and the entire die-casting line to DENSO HARYANA under a contracting agreement with DENSO. The relocation has been completed. Additionally, the Company’s group entity, DAIICHI JITSUGYO INDIA PVT. LTD., is constructing a local hydrogen supply station and performing utility installations for the die-casting line at the site under a building and equipment contract with DENSO HARYANA.
Through this initiative, the Company aims to reduce CO₂ emissions in DENSO HARYANA’s automotive component manufacturing processes and contribute to decarbonization. As a “next-generation engineering trading company,” Daiichi Jitsugyo will continue to practice its materiality of “creating new value at manufacturing sites” and support the safe and smooth operation of equipment. Moving forward, the Company will further advance its efforts to support global carbon neutrality and build a sustainable mobility society.
