[Case Study] Long-standing Plastic Manufacturer 'Iwasaki Industry' Tackles Decarbonization Based on the 'Mottainai' Spirit

e-dash Inc. was commissioned by Nara Prefecture to provide support for greenhouse gas visualization and reduction for 50 local companies. In this report, we interviewed Iwasaki Industry, a long-standing plastic manufacturer, about their approach to decarbonization.

While acknowledging the convenience of plastic, Iwasaki Industry is critical of disposable consumption patterns and prioritizes the 'Mottainai' (waste-not) spirit in their manufacturing. Beyond reducing CO2 in production, they are turning regional challenges into product development opportunities, such as recycling abandoned bamboo into resin. To remain a preferred choice for the next generation, they are pursuing the international 'SBT for SMEs' certification. By visualizing emissions, they aim to optimize management decisions and provide transparency to customers and employees.
