Focus Gear Inherits the Phantom POLAR Project, a 35mm F2 Born from Respect for the "Seven-Element Lens," Appearing in Approximately 40 Limited Units

Product Overview The POLAR SOLARON-M 35mm F2.0 SPHERICAL Final Edition by Focus Gear is a 35mm F2 manual focus lens compatible with Leica M-mount and also supports rangefinder coupling. This product is an homage lens born from respect for the highly popular 1979 Leica Summicron 35mm F2, commonly known as the "Seven-Element Lens." It was designed to balance the soft atmosphere unique to classic 35mm lenses with rendering performance that is easy to handle even in modern photography.

POLAR / Polar Light Optics is a lens project founded in 2023 by two young Leica M enthusiasts inspired by the journey of Mr. Zhou of LIGHT LENS LAB. The first small-lot samples were sold from December 2023, but later, the project became difficult to continue due to manufacturing and improvements, and the brand ceased operations in 2025. On the other hand, the optical design of the lens itself had a high degree of perfection, inheriting the gradation and atmosphere reminiscent of the original "Seven-Element Lens" while slightly increasing sharpness, which was its appeal. Therefore, at the end of 2025, Focus Gear, after consultation with its partner factory, took over the remaining parts after the project's termination and carried out readjustment and improvements. Finally, only about 40 units were completed as products.

At the open F2 aperture, you can enjoy soft, natural bokeh and a classical atmosphere, and by stopping down slightly, it transforms into a refined rendering that is also suitable for snapshots and landscapes. The compact barrel blends well with M-type Leicas, making it a lens you'll want to casually take out for everything from daily snapshots to travel photography. This is a special limited model that Focus Gear has finally brought to fruition, continuing a project that had once ceased. The quantity is only about 40 units. It will be sold at a special price.

This product is available in four types with different exterior specifications.

The black paint finish with a brass barrel is a classical specification that gains character with use. The black model with a lightweight aluminum barrel has a light finish that is easy for everyday use. The silver chrome finish is available in two types: black lever specification and silver lever specification, allowing you to choose according to the camera body or your preference.

- Soft at open aperture, refined when stopped down At F2 wide open, you can enjoy a soft atmosphere and a rendering with a core in the center, and by stopping down, it changes to a sharp image suitable for snapshots and landscapes.

- Leica M-mount compatible with rangefinder coupling It is compatible with the Leica M-mount and allows for manual focus shooting with rangefinder coupling. The minimum focusing distance is 0.7m, allowing you to enjoy the light and agile shooting style unique to rangefinder cameras.

- Compatible with E39 filter thread The filter thread is the 39mm E39 standard. By combining it with a slim filter or a classic type hood, you can also enjoy the cohesive appearance typical of M-type Leicas.

Shooting performance and basic operation will be confirmed and adjusted by Focus Gear before shipment.

- This product is adjusted for rangefinder coupling at the time of manufacturer shipment. Depending on the individual camera body, there may be differences in the accuracy of rangefinder coupling.

- At the infinity focus position, the rear of the lens protrudes from the mount surface. If placed without the rear cap attached, the rear element may be scratched. Therefore, always attach the rear cap when storing.
