ENGINE Inc. (Location: Adachi-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Tetsuro Kubota) has released the trailer for the films to be screened at the inaugural 'TAXIATER' film festival, Japan's first taxi-based film festival. Concurrent with this release, the company announced a launch event scheduled for Wednesday, August 5, featuring the main cast and production teams, and began accepting registrations for 100 general attendees. Additional experiences include the operation of 100 'TAXIATER' mobile cinema taxis bookable via app, and the distribution of original ride certificates to the first 5,000 passengers.
'TAXIATER' is Japan's first film festival commemorating 'Taxi Day' on August 5. For one week starting Monday, August 3, 2026, 100 'TAXIATER' mobile cinema taxis will operate in Tokyo's 23 wards, screening three original short films created by world-class production teams. Additionally, from Saturday, August 15, to Saturday, August 29, theatrical screenings of all works (including stage greetings and special talk sessions) will be held at three cinemas in Ikebukuro, Shibuya, and Shimokitazawa.
The featured works are:
- 'Sekai wa Utsukushii to Dareka ga Itta' (Starring: Shiori Kubo; Director: Ryutaro Nakagawa) - 'Marukute Shikaku' (Starring: Iina Osawa; Director: Nanako Komiyama) - 'Parallel Parking' (Starring: Yuta Hayashi, Kayoko Kishimoto; Director: Sho Nagashima)
A launch event will also be held on Wednesday, August 5, from 17:00 to 18:00 at the TOKYO FM Hall. We are accepting registrations for 100 general attendees on a first-come, first-served basis (Deadline: Friday, July 31, 2026, 19:00). Attendees will receive a Kao product (laundry detergent, fabric softener, or dish detergent) as a gift.
