Entercare Lab. Inc. (Headquarters: Tokyo, CEO: Kei Takamaru, Entercare Lab.) announces that the "Puyo Puyo Trainer," a brain training game for care facilities, developed by a production committee established in February 2026 by four companies – Elecom Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Osaka, President & CEO: Koichi Iwami, hereinafter "Elecom"), GLOE Inc. (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, Representatives: Yuya Yatada, Akihito Furusawa, TSE Growth: 9565, hereinafter "GLOE"), and Shochiku Broadcasting Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo, President: Hiroshi Ida, hereinafter "Shochiku Broadcasting") – will officially launch on October 1, 2026.

Prior to the official launch, online information sessions will be held eight times in July 2026 for care facilities, medical professionals, local governments, and pharmacies nationwide.

This service leverages the gameplay of the popular puzzle game "Puyo Puyo," developed by SEGA Corporation (Headquarters: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo, President & COO: Shuji Utsumi, hereinafter "SEGA"), and is designed for easy use by the elderly and individuals with developmental disabilities, offering a "brain training e-sports" service for care facilities.

What is "Puyo Puyo Trainer"?

The production committee has optimized the popular falling-block puzzle game series "Puyo Puyo," developed by SEGA, for use in care and welfare settings.

"Puyo Puyo Trainer" is a subscription-based browser game developed for use in care and welfare facilities for recreation and brain training purposes.

With supervision from experts on UI, safety, and usability in care settings, it features a UI/UX design that allows anyone to play easily.

Three modes are planned: a single-player mode, a two-player mode, and a "Puyo Puyo Drill" mode, which is a puzzle-solving mode (similar to Shogi problems) where the sequence of falling Puyos is predetermined, requiring players to think through the strategy.

Features of "Puyo Puyo Trainer"

The UI is designed with consideration for users with disabilities, ensuring visibility and ease of understanding. The operability and difficulty are optimized to be accessible even for seniors who are not accustomed to traditional game controls.

Furthermore, the service supports continuous training utilization in facilities through the visualization of in-game play logs and score accumulation and trends.

Settings are designed with simple choices rather than extensive customization options, making them easier to understand and manage.

To accommodate individuals sensitive to bright lights, sounds, or overwhelming effects, the visual and audio presentation is kept subdued to avoid discomfort or pressure.

*This is one of the IP utilization casual games developed by the production committee for care facilities, licensed from SEGA's programming educational material "Puyo Puyo Programming" for some visual assets. SEGA is cooperating by granting permission for the "Puyo Puyo" IP and providing supervision.

Comment from Ishii

Yosuke Ishii, Representative Director, CMO/CCO, Physician, Entercare Lab. Inc.

Through many years of working with patients in home medical care and palliative care, I have developed a strong sense of crisis.

It is the possibility that the care and rehabilitation intended to support a sense of purpose in life may, conversely, strip people of their motivation and connection to society. Our goal is to transform the challenges of medical care and welfare through the power of "play," turning "places of care" into "playgrounds" where everyone can enjoy themselves. "Puyo Puyo Trainer" is the first step towards this social implementation. We aim to thoroughly verify it from a medical professional's perspective to foster natural communication, such as intergenerational "excitement" and "mutual teaching," going beyond mere brain training. Stepping beyond the role of directly providing care as a player, we will act as architects of social change, preventing isolation through the power of entertainment and creating new communities in care settings. We hope this product will become a new infrastructure for future care.

Yosuke Ishii (Quoted from: Ouchi no Shinryojo)

Future Prospects

Entercare Lab. aims to solve challenges in the care and medical fields and improve QOL by leveraging the power of games and entertainment.

Through "Puyo Puyo Trainer," we will promote the social implementation of new recreational experiences in care settings that are "fun," "sustainable," and "expected to be effective."

<About "Puyo Puyo">

The "Puyo Puyo" series is an action puzzle game loved worldwide for over 30 years. The first "Puyo Puyo," released in 1991, was a huge hit with its simple and fun rule of connecting and clearing four or more Puyos of the same color, and its cast of unique characters. Since then, it has been developed on various platforms, including home video game consoles and smartphones, and continues to be played by generations. Furthermore, it has gained attention in the e-sports scene, where professional players compete as a title recognized by the Japan e-Sports Union (JESU), with intense matches taking place both domestically and internationally. In 2026, "Puyo Puyo," celebrating its 35th anniversary, will continue to deliver the fun of "big chains" to everyone!

The "Puyo Puyo" series has implemented features such as "Speed Adjustment" to control game speed during matches and "Handicap Settings" to adjust game difficulty for each player, working to implement functions that allow seniors and people with disabilities to play together enjoyably. The series has also actively supported activities aimed at promoting the health of seniors and tournaments at facilities for people with disabilities, as well as supporting intergenerational exchange events between seniors and young people, with "Puyo Puyo" pro players participating as instructors, demonstrating contributions to local communities centered around e-sports. Following its adoption at a pre-event for "Nenrinピック Aigao no Ehime 2023" (National Sports Festival for the Elderly), the implementation of events for seniors has been expanding nationwide.
