The 2nd Railway Technology Exhibition Osaka (Mass-Trans Innovation Japan Osaka 2026), organized by Sankei Shimbun and CNT Co., Ltd., officially opened today. As the largest railway business event in Western Japan, it brings together a diverse range of stakeholders including the JR Group, Osaka Metro, major Kansai private railways, rolling stock manufacturers, startups, and research institutions.
The exhibition is held at INTEX Osaka (Halls 3, 4, 5, and outdoor areas) for three days until May 29. Attendance is projected to exceed 20,000 visitors. Following an opening ceremony attended by officials from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and railway executives at 9:40 AM, the gates opened at 10:00 AM to a large crowd of industry professionals.
Key Highlights: - JR Group Collaboration: JR West and JR East are hosting booths featuring a special joint exhibit where all seven JR companies demonstrate their initiative to standardize and share electrical equipment materials and components to ensure sustainable railway operations. - Digital & Service Innovation: Osaka Metro is demonstrating facial recognition ticketing systems and maintenance drones. Kintetsu Railway is showcasing seating solutions focused on passenger comfort and the upcoming "Les Saveurs Shima" restaurant train scheduled for November. - Manufacturing Excellence: Kawasaki Railcar, celebrating its 120th anniversary, displays its history through models and visuals. Japan Transport Engineering Company (J-TREC) is exhibiting actual stainless steel body segments to showcase its pioneer manufacturing quality. - Specialized Demonstrations: Nippon Signal’s high-altitude work robots and Mine Seisakusho’s outdoor rail welding demonstrations have drawn significant interest.
The exhibition aims to serve as a vital platform for networking and building new relationships within and beyond the railway industry, fostering innovation and structural evolution.
