Fairtrade Label Japan, a certified NPO promoting Fairtrade in Japan (Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Executive Director: Maiko Shiozaki), will hold 'Actually, Fairtrade is Kind to the Earth and Living Things: Fairtrade Environment Month' from June 1 to June 30, 2026. The campaign aims to convey that Fairtrade is a choice that connects not only to human rights but also to environmental conservation. Through quizzes, giveaways of certified products, and a synchronized social media campaign on Environment Day (June 5), the organization will create opportunities for consumers, companies, and groups to think about climate change and sustainable consumption. In recent years, climate change has threatened the future of agricultural products such as coffee and cocoa, with producers in developing countries—who contribute the least to greenhouse gas emissions—suffering the most. Fairtrade sets strict environmental standards, such as prohibiting hazardous pesticides and preventing deforestation, and supports producers' adaptation to climate change through premiums. Through this campaign, Fairtrade Label Japan aims to make choosing Fairtrade a daily habit to protect the global environment and the future of producers.
