FELISSIMO's C.C.P (Challenged Creative Project), a project aiming to create a borderless society where people with and without disabilities connect through craftsmanship, has started pre-orders on June 23 for the 'Wear One-of-a-Kind Sensibility: SAORI Weaving Cotton Scarf' in collaboration with multiple welfare facilities, including Osaka's 'NPO SAORI Hiroba.'

This product features scarves handwoven by challenged artisans (a positive term for people with disabilities) using the 'SAORI weaving' technique, which involves no templates or models, allowing free creative expression. By selecting and weaving threads based on their emotions at the moment, artisans create warm, unique fabrics full of character—something mass-produced machine weaving cannot replicate. Holding one, users can imagine who wove it and what mood they were in, adding a layer of emotional connection and enjoyment.

A portion of the sales will be donated to the 'C.C.P Challenged Support Fund' to support skill development and promote community understanding for people with disabilities.

◆ SAORI Weaving: An Art That Harmonizes the Mind and Celebrates Individuality

'SAORI weaving' is a hand-weaving method born in Osaka in 1968. Unlike rigid, precise weaving, it encourages weavers to choose threads freely based on their feelings. There are no concepts of models, examples, or mistakes. Irregular edges or stray threads are all embraced as expressions of the individual's unique artistry. Mr. Tetsuya Shiro, Representative Director of SAORI Hiroba, says: 'SAORI weaving is a form of harmony. As you weave gradually, your mind naturally settles into a calm, balanced state. Because there's no 'must do this way,' the authentic self becomes the artwork, allowing people with disabilities to fully express their characteristics.'

◆ Collaboration with Welfare Facilities: Fostering Regional Revitalization and Social Inclusion

These scarves are meticulously handcrafted over time by individuals using services at welfare facilities including 'NPO SAORI Hiroba,' 'SAORI Toyosaki Nagaya,' and 'Atelier Yū House.' Rather than uniform, mass-produced items, these scarves are priced fairly to reflect the true value of handmade work from welfare facilities. This approach supports sustainable operations and contributes to higher wages and greater job satisfaction for the artisans.

◆ A Unique Scarf for a Meaningful Connection

This product offers one-of-a-kind scarves handwoven by challenged artisans using the SAORI weaving technique. After choosing between two color themes—'Color of Excitement' (bright and lively) or 'Color of Calm' (deep and serene)—the final color combination and pattern are left entirely to the artisan's inspiration.

Left: 'Color of Excitement'—evoking the gentle warmth of basking in sunlight, this theme offers a soft, cheerful ambiance that gently brightens the face and uplifts the mood. Right: 'Color of Calm'—inspired by moonlit skies, starry nights, or evening strolls, this theme conveys a deep, tranquil atmosphere. It exudes quiet sophistication, with subtle flashes of individuality shining through.

Each scarf comes with a tag featuring a handwritten message (or name) from the artisan. This allows users to feel the emotions behind the creation and connect with the maker's intentions.
