Fitech Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Oguchi Town, Aichi; President: Tomonori Hayashi) has donated 500 liters of its forest fire retardant 'FOREST DEFENDER' in response to a forest fire in Otsuchi Town, Iwate Prefecture. This support was initiated following requests from the Fire and Disaster Management Agency (FDMA) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications and the Forestry Disaster Countermeasures Association of the Forestry Agency to assist in early-stage firefighting activities.

The forest fire, which broke out on April 22, 2026, has spread extensively, causing significant local impact. Firefighting activities involving the Self-Defense Forces, disaster prevention helicopters, and ground units are ongoing. Fitech shipped the retardant on April 24, delivered it to the Kamaishi-Otsuchi District Administrative Affairs Association Fire Department on the 25th, and provided training on its use at the Otsuchi Fire Station on the 26th. The retardant has been utilized on-site since April 27.

'FOREST DEFENDER' is effective even when diluted with seawater, a crucial feature for aerial firefighting. It has a proven track record, having been used in previous large-scale fires in the region. Fitech aims to contribute to rapid suppression and damage reduction through both the supply of high-performance chemicals and on-site operational support. The company also engages in international forest fire prevention efforts through JICA and collaborations with countries like Kazakhstan, striving for a decarbonized society by protecting forest resources.
