The Free BGM Association has released its 'Free BGM Database,' allowing users to search for 25,675 tracks composed by supporting artists and check their usage conditions without the need for user registration.

Easier Access for Domestic and International Users

The 'Free BGM Database' is a service that allows users to check the usage conditions and precautions for 25,675 royalty-free background music tracks in one place, free of charge. Aiming to streamline the selection process and help creators avoid post-usage disputes, the service has been offered to all content creators free of charge since November 2024.

Initially, it was provided as a registration-only service due to concerns about operational load. However, as the database operations have stabilized after 18 months, the association has now opened it up for use without registration to make it more accessible to creators.

The service currently has over 10,000 registered users, including individual creators, educational institutions, and companies. Since its inception, the service has seen significant usage from outside Japan, with approximately 30% of total users coming from regions such as Taiwan, Hong Kong, and China. Consequently, the association decided to remove the registration requirement to simplify the onboarding process for these international users.

Future Usage

As of June 4, 2026, the search function for approximately 25,000 tracks is available without registration or login.

Existing and new registered users who choose to log in can continue to access features such as the 'Favorite Track List' and 'Past Viewing History.'

*Users who do not register will not be able to add/view 'Favorite Track Lists' or access 'Past Viewing History.'
