Fuji Soft's Educational Metaverse "FAMcampus" Utilized in Saitama Prefecture's Truancy Support Project Enters Second Year of Operation - Participation Capacity Expanded Fourfold to 4,000 People

Saitama Prefecture's truancy support project, utilizing Fuji Soft Corporation's (President and CEO: Mitsuhiro Murooka) educational metaverse "FAMcampus," has begun its second year of operation. This project provides a safe space for children and students in Saitama Prefecture who are truant, enabling them to learn, interact, and receive counseling, thereby supporting their social independence.

17,038 Students Absent from Public Elementary and Junior High Schools in Saitama Prefecture

According to a survey by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT)*1, the number of elementary and junior high school students absent from school in fiscal year 2024 reached a record high of 353,970, marking an increase for 12 consecutive years. MEXT is expanding its support system through initiatives such as the "Truancy Countermeasures for Ensuring Learning Without Leaving Anyone Behind (COCOLO Plan)"; however, providing support to those who are difficult to reach through conventional methods, such as those who have difficulty going out or have anxieties about interpersonal relationships, remains a common and important challenge for local governments and educational sites. In Saitama Prefecture as well, the number of elementary and junior high school students absent from school in fiscal year 2024 reached 17,038*2.

Truancy Support Package Provided, Increased to 50 Municipalities for 4,000 People

Saitama Prefecture has been engaged in a truancy support project utilizing the metaverse since fiscal year 2025. Fuji Soft has been supporting the smooth and effective operation of the project by providing a "Truancy Support Package" that integrates four elements: the metaverse space, curriculum, instructors, and truancy support specialists.

In fiscal year 2025, the target audience was children and students who had difficulty going out. In fiscal year 2026, the target audience has been expanded to include children and students attending educational support centers. Accordingly, the number of IDs has been increased fourfold, expanding the capacity to 4,000 participants. In addition, the number of participating municipalities has increased from 35 to 50.

In this project, a "Prefectural Common Floor" operated by the prefecture and "Municipal Floors" jointly operated by participating municipalities are constructed within the metaverse space. The "Prefectural Common Floor" hosts events in collaboration with various museums, art galleries, private companies, and other prefectures. The "Municipal Floors" promote the creation of a place for children and students through five days of classes per week and daily interaction. The prefecture and municipalities are jointly working to create an environment that serves as the first step towards the social independence of children and students.
