Fuji Yakuhin Signs Comprehensive Partnership Agreement with Misato City, Saitama Prefecture

Fuji Yakuhin Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Saitama City, Saitama Prefecture; President and CEO: Masayuki Takayanagi, hereinafter "Fuji Yakuhin"), a diversified pharmaceutical company engaged in everything from pharmaceutical development to manufacturing and sales, signed a comprehensive partnership agreement with Misato City, Saitama Prefecture on July 6, 2026 (Mon.).

This agreement aims to contribute to the improvement of citizen services and regional revitalization by Fuji Yakuhin and Misato City collaborating to strengthen disaster prevention and disaster response measures and promote the health of citizens. Fuji Yakuhin aims to contribute to regional revitalization by undertaking the following five initiatives through its business activities, primarily focusing on the sale of "haichi-yaku" (home-delivered medicines).

[Five Items of the Partnership Agreement]

(1) Regarding the strengthening of self-medication (*1): "Haichi-yaku" is a service that provides "the peace of mind of having medicine always nearby." Plans include supporting the installation of "haichi-yaku" in elementary and junior high schools during normal times, and providing "haichi-yaku" as emergency kits at events. Furthermore, these installed "haichi-yaku" will be provided free of charge as disaster prevention first-aid kits in the event of a disaster (*2).

(2) Regarding the dissemination of health information: "Haichi-yaku" is a business model of "kaisho" (door-to-door sales) where sales representatives regularly visit customers. In addition, "haichi-yaku" sales representatives are, in principle, registered sellers (*3) as stipulated by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. Leveraging this system and specialized knowledge, during visits to customers' homes, they will conduct awareness activities on the appropriate use of OTC drugs, and on the prevention of seasonal accidents and illnesses such as heatstroke, as well as distribute flyers with health information disseminated by Misato City to customers.

(3) Regarding monitoring services for the elderly and others: When "haichi-yaku" sales representatives visit the homes of elderly individuals, they will engage in daily conversation, respond to consultations about their troubles, and encourage participation in health checkups. They will also participate as a cooperating business in Misato City's "Elderly SOS Network" and cooperate in monitoring the elderly by assisting in the search for wanderers during their daily sales activities.

(4) Regarding disaster prevention and disaster response: "Haichi-yaku" is also useful as disaster preparedness supplies during disasters. Therefore, if evacuation centers are established in the medium to long term, Fuji Yakuhin will provide medicines free of charge to evacuation centers upon request from Misato City. In addition, in the event of an emergency, they will also carry out activities that contribute to ensuring the safety of regional infrastructure, such as checking road conditions.

(5) Other matters deemed necessary to achieve the objectives: In addition to the above, Fuji Yakuhin will implement initiatives that contribute to the revitalization of Misato City in consultation with the city.

(*1) Self-medication refers to taking care of one's own health and lifestyle habits, and using over-the-counter drugs to prevent and treat illnesses when feeling unwell.

(*2) Customers who have a contract for "haichi-yaku" are already provided with them free of charge in the event of a disaster.

(*3) A registered seller is a specialized qualification required for the sale of general-purpose medicines (OTC drugs). They possess specialized knowledge of pharmaceuticals and can sell general-purpose medicines, excluding Class 1 prescription drugs which can only be sold by pharmacists.

Under the slogan "Deliver Health. Continue Health.," Fuji Yakuhin's mission is to continue supporting people's healthy lives. Through its "haichi-yaku" sales, operation of drugstores and pharmacies, and pharmaceutical development and manufacturing, the company strives to provide high-quality services that are close to the lives of local residents. In recent years, Fuji Yakuhin has been promoting partnership agreements with local governments to support community development initiatives undertaken by these governments, starting with its "haichi-yaku" sales business.

In this context, approximately 2,000 customers, including households and businesses, are currently using "haichi-yaku" in Misato City. Fuji Yakuhin, in addition to being involved in the lives of many Misato City residents through its "haichi-yaku" sales business, believes that its sales style of visiting each customer's home one by one can be of assistance to Misato City's initiatives, leading to the conclusion of this partnership agreement with the city. This is the 45th partnership agreement with a local government.
