Gakken Co., Ltd., a group company of Gakken Holdings Co., Ltd., announced on June 1, 2026, that it has partnered with Prometric Japan Co., Ltd. to introduce a Computer-Based Testing (CBT) system for the 2027 school recommendation entrance exams (public recruitment type) at Nara Gakuen University. This initiative allows students to take exams at test centers nationwide, aiming to improve convenience, streamline exam operations, and ensure fairness and security.
In recent years, expanding exam opportunities and improving operational efficiency have become key challenges for university admissions. CBT is gaining attention as a method that utilizes computers and nationwide test centers. Nara Gakuen University decided to adopt this system to create an environment where students can take exams regardless of their place of residence or travel distance.
For the 2027 entrance exams, the application period is from November 1 to November 11, 2026, with the exam date on November 21 and results announced on December 1. Candidates can choose between the traditional paper-based test (PBT) at the university campus or the CBT at test centers nationwide. The exam consists of two subjects.
In this collaboration, Nara Gakuen University will handle recruitment and on-campus testing, Gakken will provide operational support through its 'Admission Compass' service, and Prometric will provide its nationwide test center network and CBT management. This approach aims to reduce the university's operational burden while expanding opportunities for students.
