Blumhouse Television Acquires Adaptation Rights to Shusuke Shizukui's 'Hinoko'

Blumhouse Television in the United States has acquired the adaptation rights to 'Hinoko' by Shusuke Shizukui. While many of Shizukui's works have been adapted for the screen in Japan, this is the first time one of his works will be adapted into a drama in the United States. The project was realized by producer Motoko Kimura, who specializes in bringing Japanese works to the international market, after eight years of effort. Original author Shusuke Shizukui commented, 'Hinoko has been adapted for Japanese television, but it is a domestic suspense story depicting the collapse of an extremely ordinary Japanese family's daily life. I am looking forward to seeing how it turns out as a Hollywood drama.' Producer Motoko Kimura added, 'I am thrilled to be able to adapt Shusuke Shizukui's major bestseller 'Hinoko' in Hollywood with Blumhouse Productions, which has produced innovative suspense and horror works.
