Thinking with Takazō Sugimura: What You Should Know and Do — Learning About Life and Household Management as a Family
These days, news headlines often mention “rising prices,” but how much have prices actually changed over the past 30 years? How does household budgeting differ between Japan and other countries? These are questions we rarely take the time to explore in daily life.
In this seminar, Takazō Sugimura—widely recognized for his appearances on TV and radio—and Hiroki Sato, CEO of two companies with numerous achievements, will share insights to help families develop interest in society and personal finance.

Seminar Objectives: The Kind of Children We Aim to Nurture
This seminar aims to help children develop interest in societal and economic changes, personal financial management, and life planning. By doing so, we aim to cultivate the abilities described in the national curriculum guidelines (revised Home Economics and Technology subjects), such as:
- The ability to identify problems in daily life, set challenges, and solve them - The attitude to creatively improve and innovate one’s lifestyle for a better life
Seminar Content: Activities for Children on the Day
On the day, children will participate in interactive activities, such as quizzes, exploring questions like:
- How have prices changed over the past 30 to 40 years? - How much has the ticket price at a famous amusement park changed since it opened? - Have the prices of flour, meat, or curry rice changed? - What are the differences in household budgeting between Japan and other countries?
These relatable examples will help families learn about life planning and budgeting in an engaging, hands-on way. The seminar aims to spark meaningful conversations about money, society, and the economy within families.
Feedback from Previous Participants

- Grade 7 Student: “I had no knowledge about money before, but I learned practical ways to understand personal finance and Japan’s future economy. It was very educational!”
- Parent: “My middle school son said this was a great opportunity to start imagining his future. I’m glad we attended.”

### Origin of the Name “Nancy” (Our Mission)
The name “Nancy” comes from Nancy Edison, mother of inventor Thomas Edison.
Despite Edison being expelled from elementary school, Nancy never lost faith in him. She embraced his questions, explored and experimented with him, and nurtured his potential. We aim to walk alongside each child just as she did.
It is said Edison failed 20,000 times before successfully commercializing the light bulb. When asked about this, he reportedly replied, “I didn’t fail—I collected 20,000 data points.” We want to raise children who see trial and error not as failure, but as seeds of success.
This is the spirit behind our organization’s name.
