Canon will launch two new models in its remanufactured multifunction printer 'Refreshed' (※1) series—the 'imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX C3830F-RG' and 'imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX C3826F-RG'—in late July 2026.

Canon is engaged in remanufacturing used multifunction printers, offering them as the 'Refreshed' series. Collected products are disassembled down to the component level, cleaned and sanitized (※2), and then refurbished under strict remanufacturing standards—replacing degraded or worn parts while maximizing the reuse of functional components. The new models deliver high basic performance and quality equivalent to new multifunction printers (※3), while achieving an industry-leading (※4) parts reuse rate. The 'C3830F-RG' prints at 30 pages per minute (ppm) on A4 single-sided color documents, and the 'C3826F-RG' at 26 ppm (※5). Designed from the outset with remanufacturing in mind, these new models feature easily disassemblable and reusable structures, contributing to resource circulation.

Achieving Over 90% Parts Reuse Rate Through Platform-Based Development and Operational Data Utilization

Canon’s multifunction printers employ 'platform-based development,' which standardizes the core chassis across product classes, in addition to common parts and units within each class. This enables cross-model part compatibility within the same class, enhancing parts reuse rates during remanufacturing. Furthermore, by leveraging operational data such as years of use, failure history, and print volume from collected devices, Canon’s system automatically determines the reusability of components, maximizing the use of viable parts. As a result, the 'C3830F-RG' achieves a parts reuse rate of approximately 95%, and the 'C3826F-RG' approximately 94.7% (※6), while maintaining basic performance on par with new models. Canon has achieved an industry-leading parts reuse rate exceeding 90% across all models in the 'Refreshed' series.

Advancing Eco-Friendly Initiatives: Reducing Plastic Packaging and Using Recycled Plastics

For the 'Refreshed' series, Canon uses cardboard for cushioning and pallet materials in packaging, eliminating wooden pallets and reducing plastic usage. For the new models, Canon has further reduced plastic in packaging by replacing some polyethylene bags with paper bags. Additionally, approximately 74% (※7) of all plastic used in packaging has been switched to recycled plastic, advancing efforts toward the effective use of limited resources.
