Greencoop Community (headquartered in Hakata-ku, Fukuoka City; Representative Director: Yoko Hidaka; hereinafter "Greencoop"), a general incorporated association composed of 16 cooperatives primarily in western Japan; Greencoop Denki (hereinafter "Greencoop Denki"); ALTNA Corporation (hereinafter "ALTNA"); and Mitsubishi Auto Lease Co., Ltd. (hereinafter "Mitsubishi Auto Lease") have signed a memorandum of understanding and launched an initiative to develop services that combine EVs and energy management. The goal is to create environmental value through maximizing the use of renewable energy (decarbonization) and long-term utilization of EV batteries—from automotive to stationary storage (resource circulation)—while achieving economic sustainability.
【Overview of the Initiative】
Greencoop, which aims for zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2027, is actively promoting various initiatives such as electrifying its vehicle fleet and increasing the use of carbon-free electricity. However, it currently faces new challenges that are difficult to solve independently, such as surplus electricity generated from solar power systems.
To address these challenges, the companies will build a sustainable local energy production and consumption system by integrating Mitsubishi Auto Lease’s "Circular Lease Plan"—an EV leasing program designed with the premise of repurposing vehicle batteries into stationary storage—with energy management solutions utilizing ALTNA’s battery leasing services. This will accelerate the realization of decarbonization and resource circulation.
Specifically, surplus electricity from solar power systems operated by Greencoop and Greencoop Denki will be effectively utilized by combining EVs and battery storage, expanding self-consumption and enabling use as emergency power. At the same time, a portion of the surplus electricity will be supplied to the power market, enhancing the initiative’s utility and economic viability.
Furthermore, based on insights gained from this initiative, the companies aim to institutionalize an economically rational "decarbonization solution" that integrates mobility (EVs) and energy, contributing to the realization of a decarbonized society through more effective use of renewable energy.

Established in 2018, Greencoop Community was founded by 16 cooperatives—including the Greencoop Consumers’ Cooperative Union, the social welfare corporation Greencoop, and labor cooperatives—along with various organizations across Kyushu (Fukuoka, Saga, Nagasaki, Oita, Kumamoto, Miyazaki, Kagoshima), Kansai (Osaka, Hyogo, Shiga), Chugoku (Tottori, Okayama, Shimane, Hiroshima, Yamaguchi), and Fukushima. Operating as locally rooted consumer cooperatives, they share and support each other’s resources as one unified Greencoop. Originating from mothers’ desire to provide safe and安心 food for their children, they aim to enrich their respective communities.
