Green Monster Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Ryo Ogawa; Chairman: William Wang; Securities Code: 157A; hereinafter 'Green Monster') announces the establishment of a partnership with JAMP Financial Solutions Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Keiichi Ohara; hereinafter 'JAMP Financial Solutions') to provide investor communication and web marketing support for asset management companies and other financial institutions.
The two companies will combine their expertise to support asset management firms offering investment trusts, ETFs, and similar products with investor communication and web marketing initiatives. Their goal is to support individual investors' understanding of financial products and investment decision-making, thereby contributing to investors' personal asset formation.
Background and Purpose of the Partnership
Since the launch of the new NISA framework, retail investment in Japan has expanded rapidly. Alongside initiatives such as the establishment of the Japan Financial Literacy and Education Commission (J-FLEC), nationwide efforts to improve financial education have created broader opportunities for individuals to acquire fundamental financial literacy, including concepts like 'diversified investing' and 'compound interest'.
At the same time, the range of available financial products, including ETFs, has expanded. However, when individual investors consider allocating funds, they often have specific questions about individual products: 'What does this ETF track?' or 'What are the risks of this PEIT?' Answering these questions requires not only general financial knowledge but also the ability to clearly explain the unique characteristics of each product.
On the other hand, detailed explanations about specific products are not well-suited to educational institutions, which must maintain neutrality and objectivity. Additionally, most asset management firms lack in-house capabilities to clearly communicate product features and risks to individual investors. As a result, no entity has previously taken responsibility for helping investors understand specific financial products.
This partnership combines the strengths of both companies to provide information that enables individual investors to understand product mechanisms and risks, and make informed investment decisions based on their own judgment. The goal is to support communication that goes beyond general financial education, helping investors reach the stage of 'understanding individual products and making optimal decisions for themselves'.
Partnership Initiatives
Under this partnership, the two companies will collaborate to support asset management firms offering investment trusts, ETFs, PEITs, and discretionary investment management services such as fund wraps. They will jointly design and implement communication strategies to accurately convey product characteristics, significance, and risks to individual investors. Each company will take on the following roles based on their respective strengths:
- JAMP Financial Solutions Co., Ltd.
Provides expertise on industry practices, product characteristics, and operational structures of various asset management products. The company will also facilitate discussions and coordination with asset management firms. Drawing on its experience in providing foundational infrastructure for asset management businesses, JAMP will establish the framework for 'accurate' product information dissemination.
- Green Monster Co., Ltd.
Responsible for designing investor communication strategies, planning and producing content, operating websites, social media, and video platforms, implementing campaigns leveraging financial media and influencers, and conducting performance measurement and reporting. In these efforts, Green Monster will utilize its group's network of financial and investment influencers, as well as outreach to individuals through workplace channels. Additionally, the company will apply insights gained from its experiential investment learning services—particularly understanding 'where and why individual investors struggle'—to translate complex terminology and mechanisms into investor-friendly formats. All materials will be managed in compliance with the Financial Instruments and Exchange Act and other relevant laws, regulations, and self-regulatory guidelines.
Future Outlook
Initially, the partnership will focus on domestic asset management firms. Looking ahead, the companies also aim to support overseas asset management firms considering entry into the Japanese market.
For overseas firms, understanding how Japanese retail investors consume information, and designing communications that comply with Japan's advertising regulations and industry practices, represent significant practical barriers to market entry. By combining their expertise, the two companies aim to provide solutions that help overcome these challenges.
Comments on the Partnership
Keiichi Ohara | Representative Director, JAMP Financial Solutions Co., Ltd.
In Japan's asset management industry, firms have long struggled with the challenge of lacking in-house capabilities to effectively communicate their well-designed products to individual investors. This issue is particularly critical for ETFs and direct-sale investment trusts, where it can determine business success or failure.
While we have provided foundational infrastructure for asset management businesses, we recognized that to truly 'reach' investors, we need insights from companies that interact with retail investors on a daily basis.
Green Monster operates services widely used by individual investors as an entry point to learning about investing, and has a deep, experiential understanding of what investors find difficult. Through this partnership, we aim to provide both domestic asset management firms and overseas firms targeting the Japanese market with effective ways to bridge the gap with investors.
Ryo Ogawa | President and CEO, Green Monster Co., Ltd.
Under our mission to 'change people's mindset and behavior toward money,' we have engaged with individuals beginning their investment journey through experiential investment learning services. What we've learned is that the problem isn't a lack of information, but rather that information is not presented in a way that is easy to understand.
Effective communication about financial products requires deep understanding of industry practices, product structures, and regulatory frameworks. JAMP Financial Solutions has been a key player in supporting asset management firms in exactly these areas. By combining our strengths, we believe we can deliver information that is both accurate and easy to understand.
Deeper investor understanding benefits not only asset management firms but also the society we aim to create. We will nurture this initiative as a new intersection between financial education and marketing.
