Release of 'ACTION GAME MAKER' Version 1.3 with 2.5D Functionality!

Today, June 17, 2026 (Wednesday), marks the 1st anniversary of the official release of 'ACTION GAME MAKER.' To celebrate, we have released a major version update, version 1.3. This update includes features that significantly enhance the game's visual capabilities, such as the implementation of 2.5D functionality and sample projects demonstrating the use of HDR effects. Additionally, it introduces a system allowing users to create and share custom execution actions and conditions, similar to the plugin system in the RPG Maker series. We have also released Producer Letter #19 outlining future update plans.

◯ Key Features of Version 1.3

・ Implementation of 2.5D Functionality

For the first time in the Action Game Maker series, we have implemented functionality to create 2.5D games using 3D backgrounds. This feature allows 3D models to be used as backgrounds within the existing 2D game space. Since gameplay elements and characters remain 2D, users can create 2.5D games without increasing development complexity.

・ Sample Project for Shader & HDR Functionality

A sample project demonstrating how to use shader and HDR features. By leveraging the powerful visual expression capabilities of Godot Engine, the base engine, it becomes possible to achieve more modern and beautiful visuals, even with identical assets.

・ Implementation of Custom Action Plugin Functionality

Similar to the plugin system in the RPG Maker series, users can now place GDScript-based plugins directly into their projects to add new transition conditions and execution actions available within ACTION GAME MAKER.

This feature enables users without programming knowledge to easily utilize scripts created by other developers as plugins.

◯ Development Roadmap Announced in Producer Letter #19

Future update plans include upgrading the base engine to Godot 4.6.3, further improving the usability of VisualScript, and enhancing and modifying UI/UX.
