Concept: "Tomosu (to light up)"

This expresses the passion that each player of Comet JAPAN and Orihime JAPAN ignites. The concept embodies the spirit of unwavering fighting will unique to Japanese athletes, gathered together to shine brightly as a team.

Designed by nendo

The design was handled by nendo, a design office that has won numerous international design awards. They work broadly across architecture, interiors, products, and graphics, and in recent years have been known for designs such as the Olympic cauldron and new TGV high-speed train cars for France.

Meaning behind the colors

The main color is "Shu" (vermilion), a traditional Japanese color also known as Japan Red. Each color carries a sentiment befitting the Japan national team.

● Main Color | Shu (Japan Red): A traditional Japanese color. Expresses burning passion and a spirit of unwavering challenge.

● 2nd Color - Men's | Hakugin (Silver): White, a color traditionally associated with good luck for men. Combined with the name Comet JAPAN, it expresses the brilliance of each individual player.

● 2nd Color - Women's | Sakura (Cherry Blossom): Motif of the cherry blossom, a flower symbolizing Japan. Expresses Orihime JAPAN uniting and shining beautifully.

● 3rd Color | Shikkoku (Jet Black): Imagines the night sky. A "shadow"-like color that makes light stand out, expressing a dedicated attitude.

● Goalkeeper | Getsuhaku (Moon White), Ainezu (Indigo Gray), Tokiwa Midori (Evergreen): Traditional colors that convey calmness and security. They are designed to harmonize with the court players and express unity.

"Meteor" Graphic and Numbering

The trajectory of the seven players running across the court is expressed through a meteor graphic. Overlapping with the names Comet JAPAN and Orihime JAPAN, it symbolizes the wishes of the players and their supporters. The jersey numbers use a font with cut-ins that resemble light shining through, expressing a strong will to forge a new era and a challenging attitude.

Comfort and Functionality (hummel)

The uniforms are hummel's dedicated handball model. The脇 (underarm) pattern has been improved from the previous model, allowing for smoother arm movements during the intense up-and-down motions characteristic of handball. The pants feature a seamless construction in the inseam, allowing for greater leg flexibility and reducing strain. The women's national team model has a slightly slimmer silhouette and slightly shorter pant length than the men's, for a stylish specification.

General Sales

Information regarding general sales of the new uniforms (replicas, etc.), including the release date, is currently undecided. Once decided, it will be announced again on the official website and official social media of the Japan Handball Association.

This year, with the new uniforms
