Athletes gathered to compete for spots on the Asian Championship team.

We sincerely appreciate your continued support.

From Thursday, July 2nd to Sunday, July 5th, the Men's Japan National Team U-19 (Youth) held its first training camp at the Daido Steel Gymnasium (Aichi).

The purpose of this camp was to select and strengthen the team for the 11th Men's Youth Asian Championship, scheduled to be held in Jordan from Thursday, August 20th to Monday, August 31st.

Although it was a short four-day period, a total of 27 players, ranging from second-year high school students to first-year university students, gathered together. They were motivated by their rivals of the same age, showcased their abilities, and appealed for selection to the national team.

Players will be narrowed down based on their performance and efforts during this training camp, with plans to proceed to a pre-tournament camp in August and then the main competition.

Intense offense and defense drills were repeated.

A camp with active mutual communication.

Coach's Comment: Yosuke Kakazu, Head Coach

"The themes of this training camp were player selection for the Asian Championship and strengthening the team for the tournament. Although we had a limited time of four days, we gave our all to what we could do each day.

I have told the players that they need to have pride and determination as members of the Japan national team, and whether they can fight in the Asian competition. Specifically, the point we are evaluating them on is whether they can stand up to Middle Eastern teams, especially in defense.

Many of these players met for the first time here, and while it wasn't easy to demonstrate leadership or communicate, communication among the players increased day by day, and the fighting spirit and calls for defense that we were looking for began to emerge. I believe we were able to spend a fulfilling time."

Head Coach Yosuke Kakazu observed the players' appeals.
