Location: Hankyu Umeda Main Store, 8th Floor, Contemporary Art Gallery
The Contemporary Art Gallery on the 8th floor of Hankyu Umeda Main Store will host the group exhibition "Un/seen" from July 15 (Wed) to July 27 (Mon), featuring three emerging young artists: Shotaro Sanada, Takuma Shiratani, and Yuka Yoneyama. This exhibition is an attempt by each artist to focus on "the unseen" and explore the boundaries between the seen and the unseen.
An Art Space to Visualize "the Unseen" and Re-examine Daily Life
There are elements that, though invisible to the eye, surely support our daily lives, such as gravity, time, memory, and presence. This exhibition aims to find certainty within uncertainty by focusing on these elements, leading visitors to a quiet sense of security. The approaches of the three artists are distinct: Shotaro Sanada depicts gravity and time as abstract landscapes; Takuma Shiratani expresses tension and presence through wood carvings inspired by origami; and Yuka Yoneyama brings serenity by painting everyday scenes in inorganic red. The works of these three emerging young artists, who weave together diverse approaches to the world of "the unseen," will be gathered in one place. It is a 13-day period where you can experience a quiet sense of security within uncertainty.

Takuma Shiratani
Born in 1994. Completed a Master's degree in Sculpture at the Graduate School of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts in 2021. Primarily creates and exhibits wood sculptures. Using origami as a motif, he attempts to sublimate his creations into prayers that continue into the future by crafting them with materials that can withstand the tests of time, such as Japanese cypress, lacquer, and mineral pigments, despite their simple structures.
"Gallery Cafe" (Oil on canvas, H910 x W1167mm, 2026)
Yuka Yoneyama
Born in 1999. Received the Ataka Prize from Tokyo University of the Arts in 2021. Will complete her studies at the Laboratory of Oil Painting Techniques and Materials, Graduate School of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts in 2025. She captures the landscapes and everyday moments she has actually seen in a geometric manner, painting them in red oil paint while giving a sense of moving between abstraction and figuration. With the heavy sense of space depicted in the highly opaque red and a composition that leaves the white of the support visible, she translates her own uniquely selected information into paintings.
