Hankyu Hanshin Properties Corp. will hold a large-scale installation, 'LAMPENFLORA,' by contemporary artist Yuichi Hirako at the concourse of Umeda Twin Towers North from May 20 (Wed) to June 22 (Mon), spanning 34 days, in collaboration with the concourse windows of Hankyu Umeda Main Store.
In this project, the concourse space is transformed into a large canvas by Mr. Hirako. This rare installation is constructed solely with monochrome drawings by the internationally acclaimed artist.
The drawings, based in dark brown, will dynamically extend from the ceiling banners to the windows and the floor. This overwhelming monochrome landscape will feature works that explore the relationship between plants and humans, a hallmark of Mr. Hirako's work.
This event is part of 'Osaka Art & Design 2026,' a roaming area event where visitors can encounter art and design while touring the city of Osaka. This is the second time the project has collaborated with the Hankyu Umeda Main Store's concourse windows, a feature that utilizes the entire concourse for three-dimensional displays annually.
Under the 'Umeda Vision,' a development concept aimed at enhancing the value of the Osaka Umeda area, the company strives to establish this district as an international hub by providing spaces that create new discoveries and emotions exclusive to Osaka Umeda.
